Informations Sheets

Such was the evolutionary nature, complexity and scale of the rebranding project, that the British Rail Corporate Identity Manual was supplemented by some 2,000 information sheets. These generic information sheets were produced as single-sided black-and-white A4 sheets (very often second or third generation photocopies, hence the occasional poor quality of some of the sheets herein). The sheets were version controlled by date and sheet number, replacement sheets given a single letter suffix to their numbers, often assembled and published as separate volumes by subject, each having a coloured A4 card covers and sometimes an additional set of contents pages at the front of the information sheets themsleves.

Following increasing levels of business sectorisation in the early 1990s, some parts of British Rail, for example Regional Railways, produced their own range of Information sheets, which dovetailed with the existing generic information sheets, which continued to be issued up to the privatisation of British Rail from 1994 onwards.
